It’s so hard..
to watch American Idol by yourself. Travis is out of town tonight at a Middle School conference in Kelowna (lucky him), so I’m here, solo, watching American Idol. And it’s at the beginning of the season when they show all the people who are terrible. They really do think that they will be the next American Idol.
Please.
I have to sit here, and make comments to the tv and laugh all by myself.
Somehow it’s just not the same.
Have a look
Angella has done it again! We have a new look for our recipe site, Recipe for Disaster.
Check it out!!!
Kim is getting married!
This weekend, my wonderful husband let me escape the insanity of two young children and go to Vancouver. You see, my good old friend Kim is getting married.
Alison and I left Westbank at 6:30 AM!! on Saturday morning, picked Corinne up in Abby and carried on to Kits for brunch and a pedicure.
There is nothing quite like a good old girls weekend, even if it was only for about 4 hours with the four of us. We were pretty much inseparable in Bible school which was 12, no, 14 (!!!) years ago, and have made an effort to have at least one girls weekend per year since then, and most of the time it works out. We’ve sort of dropped the ball in the past few years, but I have a feeling that we’ll be picking it up again soon, even if the weekends have to change from girls weekends to family camping weekends, husbands and kids included.
I had such a wonderful time, and felt refreshed for about 45 minutes when I got home.
Then it was time to start thinking about the next girls weekend!!

Cousins
Today Grace came over for a visit while Braden went to get his shots. Sarah and Grace played so well together — they stayed at the table playing with play doh for like 20 minutes. That is a record for sure.
Sarah is such a lucky girl to have not only 1, but 2 cousins born within 9 months of her birthday!
First night in the big girl bed
Well, we all survived it much better than I thought we would. Yesterday, rather than wait to do a big furniture shuffle, I just put a single mattress down in Sarah’s room, and voila, she had her new big girl bed. The transition from her old carseat to the new one went really well just because we made such a big deal out of her ‘new seat’ and this ‘new bed’ was just the same. She managed to wander the hall at around 2am, then again at 5, but that time I joined her in her bed, and we lasted till 7 when we heard Ben up. She’s so excited to be in her new bed, and going down for a nap today was no problem!
She used to fill up the crib quite well, but now she looks so small on that big mattress — my little girl really is growing up.

My sister Jenny has become a PartyLite rep, and so, to help her out with the start of her buisness, I am having a candle party! I know I just had one in December, but here is the chance for those of you who couldn’t make it to come! Even if you don’t want to buy anything, please come for a night of some appies and hanging out with the girls.

At my house.
Please bring a friend.
If you read this blog, and live close by, you are invited!

Happy Birthday Angella!
Today my dear friend Angella joins me in our 32nd year (as our husbands love to remind us), but let’s just say we’re 31.
I don’t really remember first meeting Ange, because we went to Briercrest together, but were on separate floors, meaning we didn’t really hang out. College is just an extension of high school but where life is not quite so bad, although looking back, I think, really, what was my problem anyways. I didn’t have to hang out with only those 5 other people (the six pack) but that’s another story. This is about Ange.
I was an RA second year, and she was an intern, so we kinda knew each other that way because we both arrived in Saskatchewan early, and had lunches together with the other RA’s on occasion. We did, though, have a mutual friend who has a summer cabin at Kawkawa lake, and that’s where we really met.
I can remember that summer, when we went to Yehaw (? 95, ?96?) sitting on the dock with her, discussing our current boyfriend situation, which for both of us, was not really that good. I think she had just moved down to the coast, so we decided that we would keep in touch after the summer, and maybe go to Willingdon Church together. We ended up living in Kits about a block away from each other, then decided to give being roomies a try. By then, I was engaged to Travis, and shortly after that, she met Matthew, and soon we were both married. She and Matthew moved up to the Okanagan, and we came about 2 years later, after Travis finished school at UBC.
Angella is the best kind of friend. She is honest, loyal, so giving and generous, funny and kind. Not only that, but she is outgoing, so beautiful on the inside and out, and very smart. She will do anything for you. She goes above and beyond, and never does anything half way. She is the most positive person I know. She loves Jesus with all her heart, and it shows. She is a great example as a wife, mother and friend. She inspires me to always look on the bright side of life, to be more outgoing, to just be a better person.
I never would have thought at Briercrest in September 1992 that she would become one of my bestest friends. But here we are, starting our 30’s, and I have a friend that I know will still be there when I’m 40, 50, 60….
I love you Ange — we all love you, Travis, Sarah and Ben,– and are truly so blessed to have you in our lives. You’re the best!

A little stressed
Well, the time is drawing near that I will have to go back to work. And so, I need to figure out something for my 2 little bears, and it sort of stresses me out. How do you even start to find someone to watch your kids? Look in the phone book and start at the top of the list? no. What is making it more difficult is that I don’t like the idea, so I just avoid it. But that doesn’t help solve anything.
I mean, really, who wouldn’t want to spend time with these two cuties? Course, that begs the question, well, don’t you, but let’s not dive into that bowl of guilt just now.
Anyways, I guess the reason I’m posting is to ask if anyone has any great ideas or knows someone who’d like to make a bit of extra cash. I’ll be working 1-3 days a week, and am flexible to the days. I’d like to set up some kind of schedule like every Monday and Tuesday, every other Wednesday or something but the actual days part doesn’t really matter.
sigh.
back to work.
