Glimpses of the future.

Posted in Uncategorized at 3:14 pm by Karen

Oh, Sarah.

The other day, we were talking, and I caught the tail end of her comment and heard, ‘baby in tummy.’
Not wanting her to think that I have a baby in my tummy, I asked her, ‘who?’

“I will, when I’m an adult.”

“That’s right, when you’re an adult, when you get married, you can have a baby in your tummy. By the way, who are you getting married to?’

Graham

(Which is a good thing, because Graham also figures that he’s going to marry her.)

But there are a couple of boys who could foil this plan…..

She has friends from pre-school, two in particular, E and M (both boys) who seem to love her.

E likes to pretend that he is Diego, and Sarah is Dora. Now, I know they’re cousins, and that would be wierd, but E just loves to play with Sarah and apparently talks about her all the time. His mom, incidentally, is a girl that I went to high school with, but didn’t hang out with at the time, so it’s pretty cool to reconnect.

M, on the other hand, has quite the crush.

Just before Christmas, the kids and I were leaving pre-chool, and I hear M yell ‘Sa-rah!!‘.
Sarah didn’t hear him, so I told her to wait, and as she was coming back, M sticks his head out the door and yells,
” I LOVE YOU!!!!!!!’
It was really so cute.

His mom, incidentally, went to school with my brother (8 YEARS younger than me). Can you say old?

And, today we were on our what was once monthly but now seems to be bi-weekly lunch date at Burger King, and as we were leaving, M asked to hold Sarah’s hand. Again, so cute. They held hands all the way out to the car. E joined in, and the next thing we knew, it was a big group hug.

All I can say is that Travis and I had better prepare ourselves for 13.

My most favourite Survivor quote ever

“I am one hundred and fifty to two hundred percent satisfied with the wife that I have.”

so says some guy after being accused of ‘grinding’ against some other contestant during the night.

classic.

The sweetest thing.

They love each other! They love each other!
These days, the days are (mostly) filled with playing with each other, hugs, ‘I love you’s’, laughing and wrestling. yes, wrestling.
I was the referee, and they had a blast!

Having a good cuddle with Daddy:

The other night, Ben was a little fussy, so I sat him on my lap as I was playing the piano.
He actually fell asleep on my lap, but woke up when Daddy took the picture.
The next day, it turned out he wasn’t feeling well.

A hard day.

Here’s a good one for ya.

Remember what I said about what Ben would think about Santa?

I was right.

Come out, come out whoever you are!

Seeing as it is (apparently) National de-lurking week, here is your opportunity to comment. Just say hi! I’m a little curious to see who’s out there!

Though I wouldn’t be surprised if there aren’t many of you left, I’m not exactly regular at this, but I’m trying!

Don’t be like me though, who even though I read a post about de-lurking, I still don’t comment!

I’m lame.

Merry Christmas (only 3 weeks late!)

Posted in Uncategorized at 4:39 pm by Karen

I love Christmas.

And this year, I was actually prepared. As in, my shopping was mainly done 3 weeks early. That has never happened before.

We were pretty busy with working up until the last minute, Christmas concerts, and lots of family time. My grandparents (GiGi and Papa) and sister Rachel were in town for 2 weeks and it was really great to see them for an extended period of time.

The kids loved Christmas day with all the presents and stuff. Sarah was getting a little carried away with it all and started saying ‘I need more presents, I need more presents!!’
I was thinking that is just so wrong on so many levels, but I let it go seeing as she’s only three years old and I think we’ll tackle the issues of people less fortunate than us, and being generous with what we have next year. She was very gracious, and is very good at saying thank you.
Really though, we could have stopped after 3 gifts into the stockings and they would have been happy with that and an empty cardboard box.

Seriously, I wish I could find that picture of them in the cardboard box.

Here are some pictures for you, in no particular order:

Cousins.

Happy Birthday to me!
32 is the best so far.

Like the tie?
Yes, there was a sweater vest and courderoy jacket, but they didn’t last.
He is the cutest.

The only quiet place to play.

GiGi and her babies.

I see a future of 4 am practises.

Travis can take him.

You should have heard the singing.

Sarah was singing ‘Zaccheus was a wee little man’ and playing piano at the same time.

She takes it very seriously.

Sarah sings all. day. long.

Really.

All. Day. Long.

Sarah’s first Christmas concert at school.
She did great.
They sang Let it snow, Happy Birthday to Jesus, O come little Children, and We Wish you a Merry Christmas.

Sarah’s own gingerbread house she made at preschool.
I love the cheesy thumbs up and fake smile.
Travis made her do it.

Mama and Sarah at her concert.

Merry Christmas and a Happy 2007 everybody!

We’re back!!

They say pictures are worth a thousand words, so I’ll limit what I have to say.

Mexico was wonderful.

Good company and lots of fun times.

We did a day trip to Chichen Itza (Mayan ruins) and another one to Isla Meiures (I totally spelled that wrong). Other than that, we spent a lot of time on the beach. I read 2 and a half books, and by Thursday, my mind was actually blank as I sat on the chair looking at the palm trees and the sky.

‘hmmm, the sky is so blue. And the tree is green. nice.’

I would highly recommend it.
